About the Electric Panel Upgrade Process

Start by assessing your home’s existing electrical panel. If you are planning to install a Level 2 (L2) charger for an electric vehicle, consult a licensed electrical contractor to advise on how many amps would be recommended.

Charge Ready Home requires hiring a licensed electrician or contractor. Upgrading an electrical panel is never a do-it-yourself project. A licensed electrician will ensure that all codes and regulations are followed to ensure the job is done correctly and safely.

Before any work begins, your contractor will shut off the power to your home. Typical upgrades can take 6-8 hours depending on what electrical work needs to be done and the condition of your electrical panel and circuitry.

Once the new panel has been installed and approved, your electrician will safely restore power to your home.
